Land Ownership Is A Privilege, Even If You Claim You Are Going To Grow Food For Everyone..

It’s no longer the landed gentry in Britain. If you own enough land for a smallholding, you are privileged. You have a means for self-sufficiency. In a food crisis, it puts a target on you. There is a naivety in the Green Movement that rejects the radical anarchist. Large Podcast hosts like Accidental Gods, with 2.2k subscribers, attacking small-readership bloggers like me (a Maximum of 10-20 readers a week) indicate the fragility of some actors within the Green movement who forget they are the privileged class.

Capitalism Consumed the Environmental Movement. Paul Kingsnorth was right; even if I don’t agree with him on other things, this is what maturity is in the environmental activism movement.

Extinction Rebellion was the coup within the Environmental movement. The insertion of a leadership structure funded by an Oligarch into a movement that sees the rich as part of the problem. A movement that was Anarchic, had a shared unwritten code of conduct, and did NVDA for nature.

How did a cult based on the idea that the Celts are our “indigenous” ancestors insert itself into a movement which already had a feral, wild spirituality founded among the trees and the Tree People who fought to defend them?

Most of us don’t have £600 to spare, and besides, this isn’t for the likes of you and me. The Spirit of activism: Spiritual cult practice based on the teaching of plastic-white-shamanism. It has nothing to do with nature or why 1000s of people in the 1990s defended the trees in various environmental actions. Some of these grifters were never there. Some of them did little more than sit in front of the BBC in 2019, and yet are self-elevated to positions of thought leadership, while saying:

This is a direct quotation from YouTube videos:

“I have the extraordinary privilege of having earned enough money to have the flexibility that, when something happens, you know, just completely change where you thought your life focus was, I can do it, but we need to live in a culture where everyone can do.”

This is the main speech. (This does not represent anyone I know within the environmental protest movement.)

To a generative, regenerative culture that we would be proud to leave to the future, to the generations that follow us, and that’s our job now, and if anyone reads the political books and can take out of them ways of doing that, that’s great, but I think actually the bit to take out is that if you go and sit under the tree, the tree is more likely to tell you stuff than anything you read…

..it’s about connecting now, and it’s urgent. So the accidental gods program was set up to give people the skill set to do that.”

“I had this bizarre idea that you know we’d have half a million people by the end of the first year and five million by the second year and then it would spread the world and actually we have rolling 300 because it’s hard because i’m asking people to sit under the tree not just think about sitting under the tree and they get a certain way down the line and and it’s asking too much time so actually”

What we need to learn from the Boudican era is that time then flowed; we didn’t have watches on our wrists; we didn’t, you know, everything wasn’t tied to the nearest minute; we didn’t spend four hours every day answering emails”

This is talking about Polychronic Time. You can only understand polychronic time if you spend long periods in nature, building relationships with plants. That is very different to sitting under a tree and doing who knows what, instructed by someone who thinks indigenous people survived for 100,000+ years doing “dystopian survivalism”.

“I had this bizarre idea that, you know, we’d have half a million people by the end of the first year and five million by the second year, and then it would spread..”

This is just pure ego or a mental disorder in which an individual believes that they are responsible for saving others. Those with a messiah complex can have either good or bad intentions. Some genuinely wish to help others even at their own expense, while others are motivated by a desire for praise, power, validation of their self-worth, money, or all of them; it just depends on how fragile they are, but money, I suspect, plays a central role; after all, it buys freedom.

“And so we can see those places that have recently been cut and those places that haven’t been cut since our grandfather’s time, and we weave through the paths.” There is no religious belief system around coppicing as a regenerative practice in woodland management. Coppicing cycles do not miss generations between cuts. This is poorly researched; a tree that you sit under cannot tell you how to cut it down so it regrows. I cannot take climate deniers or climate and spirituality grifters who think they are going to change the world by getting rich seriously

This neatly brings me to the next waste of space. XReadiness. A how to survive the end of Industrial farming with Extinction Rebellion’s own how to die in the woods foray into survivalism. GOOD LUCK!

Solidarity Prepping is Preparedness rooted in common-sense preparedness and community cooperation

Our foray into Solidarity Prepping is a learning journey. We are trying to equip ourselves to live humanely during the collapse of human society. We have already discovered that being in community is the fundamental requirement. Now we must learn what that means in practice.

Based on reports from Kollapscamp and some wider reading, I’ve identified five “elements” that go into the practice of being prepared—as a community—for disruptions in the systems that we usually rely on:

  1. Emergency Preparedness: Collecting supplies and making plans.
  2. Community Networking: Finding and participating in existing local networks.
  3. Mutual Aid: Acting in concert for the material benefit of other people.
  4. Disaster Relief: Responding to catastrophic events with Mutual Aid.
  5. Self-defense: Protecting our community from its enemies.
  6. Advanced off-grid communications: Who remembers the CBs on the Newbury Bypass protests? This is Gotan Calling..
  7. Wilderness Survival Skills: These skills develop resourcefulness, resilience, and a connection to nature, promote good mental health practices, and reduce boredom.

Boredom is the enemy of survivalism: There are only so many card games that you can play, and after a while they become boring. Survival skills are wide and varied. There is always something to do or make.

Woven Typha Bowl
Lime bark rope

Procuring, harvesting, processing, and making rope, string, and thread as fine as silk all take up time.

As does cooking

Making the space, rather than holding space. Space makers have the skills for backwoods engineering, dry sanitation, and making the space for people to gather.

We are going to grow food for the whole village“: A fanatical hopium declaration as we lose the Goldilocks climate niche for agriculture.

Money doesn’t buy you freedom.
