Men’s mental health has never been worse. Men account for nearly ¾ of all suicides in the UK, with the rate for men being over three times higher than that for women. It remains the single biggest killer of men under the age of 50 in the UK.
Recent figures show that in England and Wales, peak suicide rates reach 27.5 per 100,000 for men aged 50 to 54. There are also notable regional disparities, with the male suicide rate in the North East (23.8 per 100,000) significantly exceeding that in London (12.7 per 100,000).

Connection with nature attenuates suicidal thoughts (Mostly) by decreasing entrapment
Highlights
Our research underscores the critical role of connection with nature in suicide prevention.
Connection with flourishing nature reduces suicidal thoughts, mainly through decreased sense of entrapment.
Even imagining withered nature as flourishing in the future leads to attenuation of suicidal thoughts.
The findings have policy implications in the battle for suicide prevention.

The peer reviewed science does not agree that spending long periods of time in nature, learning skills and learning about nature is dystopian.
