Keep pinching my stuff and using it out of context, though it’s funny.
The rants are funny too, wasting your time
Believe in what you like. This post isn’t about belief; believe what you like.
The Environmental movement was being eaten by capitalism back in the 1990s, but pockets of that movement maintained that stoic political and social independence of the mainstream capitalist-invested green movement. Paul Kingsnorth was right.
I am a former Mental Health worker, nature therapist and occassional survival skills instructor. Being out in nature, practising or learning a new skill related to living close to nature, is my hobby and my life. It’s how I ended up living on the Gotan Diggers Community, protesting the destruction, living in Trees, in community on the land; it’s funny how it’s the hippies who defend the trees and the land and actually want to help people through mutual-aid-based preparedness. Instead of hoarding and watching our neighbours’ children starve.

In healthcare, I met a lot of interesting people and their delusions on secure wards: The messiah delusion (also referred to clinically as a Messiah complex or messianic delusion). It is classified as a grandiose delusion tied to hyper-religiosity, where a person experiences an overwhelming drive to redeem or save the world.
Solidarity Prepping is an anarchist, anti-fascist, luddist, non-violent, working-class approach to collapse and necro capitalism, in a cost of living crisis. We don’t need leaders, thought leaders, influencers, or spiritual guides. We don’t need green influencers telling us what we talk about, and especially how we could ease the downward slide in this cost-of-living crisis, because Thrutopia ain’t it.
We might suggest that nature therapy is great for good mental health, and it is. But we are not trained mental health workers. If you know someone who is struggling, support them to get help; don’t take them to the woods thinking you are doing a good thing for them. What if it’s the worst thing?
Do a recognised mental health 1st aid course. Because if we are not MH practitioners, we are not qualified to give advicè, but we can support people to get advice and professional support
Preppers now are doing the wellness grift along with conspiracy nonsense: “the NHS hospitals were empty” conspiracy theory and claims that the pandemic didn’t happen: Informed preparedness for the next pandemic. Meanwhile, I learned how to don and doff PPE and manage safety in high-risk contamination of infectious disease.

Friends of mine died during the pandemic; hospitals weren’t empty; they were busy and more dangerous Violence against workers increased during the pandemic – our research shows how it affected them
“Work-related violence refers to abuse, threats or assault against a person doing their job. It can include physical acts, like hitting or spitting, but also verbal abuse such as threatening and yelling. It can occur in person, online, or over the telephone.” This became the norm for many at work during the pandemic, including me. Especially in secure wards during the pandemic.
Peak Spiritual Activism? When A New Age Neo Shaman rejects survivalism offered freely, you know they are defending grift survivalism tamed into ritualised survivalism fed to high-paying punters who will never spread it freely. Kingsnorth may well have seen this coming because it was as the Newbury Bypass protests were drawing to a close that he was regrouping with Dark Mountain and talking about how the Environmental movement was being consumed by capitalism, and the wellness grift was the primary movement into the commercialisation and privatisation of activist training based on the theory that the change comes through spiritual evolution, the oldest scam.
Goldilocks Was A Brazen Little Crook
GOLDILOCKS & THE 3 BEARS, a nursery tale that should teach that theft, even if what you steal is just right for you, is still theft. Plagiarism is theft, even if you use it to describe something you half know from a study you didn’t fully read and understand. Lol, you are re-using a metaphor used in discussion about climate change, so how would you know that? And in use in medicine to describe a feverish state that kills disease, but not the victim. Because there is no Goldilocks human temperature.
The “Goldilocks body temperature” refers to the narrow, “just right” range of 36.4°C to 37.2°C (97.5°F to 98.9°F) that our bodies strive to maintain for optimal health. In the context of illness, the “Goldilocks phenomenon” applies to fevers: a mild fever helps fight off viral and bacterial infections, but too low or too high a temperature can be detrimental to the body
The “Goldilocks temperature” is a colloquial term derived from the children’s story “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” It describes an ideal, “just right” temperature that is neither too hot nor too cold. The concept is used across many fields, but it most commonly refers to the perfect conditions for sleeping, exercising, or the habitability of planets
‘That this is actually a book
About a brazen little crook.
Had I the chance I wouldn’t fail
To clap young Goldilocks in jail” Roald Dahl
“The Goldilocks climate niche (often referred to in climate science as the human climate niche) refers to the narrow band of average temperatures in which human populations, agriculture, and societies have historically thrived for thousands of years. Climate research shows that this “just right” zone is characterised by a mean annual temperature between 7°C and 17°C (45–63°F), with the highest historical population density centred at about 13°C (55°F)” https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2023/06/global-warming-is-disrupting-humanitys-goldilocks-zone-on-earth/
